Description
2019 THE BACK LANE SAUVIGNON BLANC
REGION: Coonawarra
VARIETY: This wine is a blend of approximately 95% Sauvignon Blanc and 5% Savagnin.
HARVEST: The grapes were picked at the end of March.
VINTAGE NOTES: The 2018 vintage provided numerous challenges for the winemakers in the Coonawarra, with rain falling consistently on a weekly basis. This occurrence was not quite as regular in the early part of the vintage, which allowed the whites to ripen much more slowly in cooler conditions. The fruit was picked toward the end of March, while still in good condition, fermented in stainless steel – then blended and bottled in late May.
ALC/VOL: 14.5%
NOTES: This is a lovely refreshing wine, and shows full fruit flavours, which are also pleasant to the nose. The style of this wine has changed slightly with the discovery of the Savagnin variety. A close relative of Traminer, this grape has complemented the Sauvignon Blanc to create a beautiful, crisp, clean and palate-cleansing white wine. Chilled, it’s a most elegant, refreshing drink.
